With anywhere between 75 and 450 inches of powder a year and temperatures that sit well below freezing, the Western region is a haven for winter sports enthusiasts. If you find yourself outpriced when it comes to ski-in/ski-out condos in Teton Village, this property in Wilson’s Aspens neighborhood is a great alternative for one or two travelers. I booked this rental in November 2023 for a two-week solo getaway where I’d be working remotely while also experiencing the quiet of Jackson Hole’s true off-season. Balsam Lodge A2 sits among a row of condos adjacent to Persephone West Bank, Sudachi, and Wilson Book Gallery—and it’s a quick walk to pick up last-minute necessities at Aspens Market. Along with a convenient location, the Airbnb features a variety of design choices and amenities that aid in a comfortable stay. The bedroom and living room have a home-away-from-home atmosphere (the leather couch adds a nice touch), and—while I didn’t light it during my stay—the woodburning fireplace can be used to warm your gloves, socks, and boots before heading out into the fresh, crisp air. If you’re traveling for several weeks at a time as I did, you’ll find yourself wishing every rental came with as well-stocked of a laundry room and kitchen as this one does. Keep in mind that this property does not have air conditioning, so it can get a bit warm during the summer months.
